Thanks, Duane and Heather!
Thanks for hosting the 4th Randannual Dunfoamin LAN Party!
Y'all kick ass :)
it's wednesday, and it's the 1st.
.. i'd meant to mention this sooner than now, but now is better than later. .. i'm presuming that there's an east guild meeting tonight?
I might buy a car
As anyone who's seen it will be aware (doubly so if you've ridden in it), my old 1995 Crown Vic is starting to come to the end of its useful life.
I'm a huge fan of the full-size sedan driving experience, so I've been looking at something in the same genre to replace it.
Anybody?
Can anyone lend me a hand with moving a couple of couches into my apartment tomorrow? It would be sometime around early afternoon (I pick up the van from U-Haul at noon). I offer beer and/or food in payment, in accordance with tradition. If you can give me a hand, call or email. Thanks.

Yeah, it's time for another link dump. Brace yourselves...

Wine for the confused
Hey. Thought I would let you know that Hulu is featuring "Wine for the Confused" narrated by John Cleese. It's relatively short and is a good introduction to wine (plus it has John Cleese in it). It doesn't have much depth, but it's a good starting point for anyone who is interested in getting started in drinking wine. John Cleese makes some remarks at the beginning that are particularly poignant (to me) and finishes with some good remarks about buying and how the wine business works (again, not too much depth, but reasonable for the time constraints).
Thursday Night
Hey, If I can get my computer area crap thrown away and the remainder packed up, I'd like to treat myself with some gaming on ThN. Civ 4 seemed to be pretty entertaining at the LAN party, would anyone else like to give it a shot via the internet? We could do the same quick-start + turn timer as we did on Sunday to speed things along.
Say yes so as to give me the motivation to get done!

September Beach
I'm looking at renting a house the week of september 12th, somewhere on the outerbanks. looking south right now, but have not decided. If anyone here is interested, let me know. we will most likely have an extra bedroom. If there is alot of interest, we could get a larger place.
I'd expect the rate to be about 400 for couples, give or take. Singles we could work out a fair price, as couples don't want a room with bunkbeds...

Why Oprah is hurting America, or how Newsweek sort of doesn't suck anymore
In this new bizarre world, even Newsweek sometimes gets journalism right.
Their most recent example? A cover story on how Oprah promotes quackery.
Now, this may come as a surprise, but I'm not really a fan of her show - I had no idea what she talks about, other than free cars and that bad, bad James Frey.
