Legacy GT Thread (Stage 3)
Have been fighting problems with the new set up and tune. I'm through my time window with my initial tuner. Four revisions and I am having the same cut issue. He now says I have a fuel delivery problem, either pressure or volume. Hmmm, would have been nice if he brought this up three weeks ago when I was describing the problem, but oh well.
He suspects the Fuel pump. Could be, but it was installed several months ago. I think it was March, several weeks before easter. Reading up on studder/cut/hesitation problems on legacygt.com I decided to check the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator. Upon close inspection I was getting some fuel in the vac line, which indicates the diaphragm has failed.
So since Brian was coming down to help out on car stuff, I asked him to check with Subaru Dealer in Fredericksburg to see if he could pick up a new FPR. Not in stock. Called around and not much luck in driving distance, so ordered one from FredBeansParts. They said they didn't have one in stock, but could get one shipped next week...
Strange that I didn't see any difference prior to the new injectors. Perhaps the stock injector were never demanding enough to show a slight problem? Going to 660cc's is not a huge jump for my car. Still the possibility there is a problem with the pump or injector seating, but won't know until I can get the new regulator in and have the fuel pressure tested at a local shop.
So if still having problems after FPR is in and fuel pressure is good, I'm going to re-install the injectors with new O-rings.
If pressure is low after FPR, then I will have to look at the fuel pump at that point.
If/when I get this sorted out, then I have to figure out where I'm headed to finish or start over with the tune. A trip to Cary might be in my future...
