National Multiple Sclerosis Society bike ride 2009
Hey folks, me again!
Yep, I'm late to the call, but thought I'd make a hollerin' anyway.
I'm once again doing the National Multiple Sclerosis Society bike ride fund raising event this year. For those that want a quick history lesson, or don't know: Several years ago I was having problems walking, blurry vision, difficulty climbing stairs and maintaining balance. After several months of these problems escalating, I went to see a neurologist. When the MRI scans came back, I was confirmed with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. For about six years now, I"ve been on drug therapy, a better diet, and a basic exercise regiment. My MS has relapsed only once in that time and my prognosis so far is good.
At last year's bike ride event I learned a lot: September is still hot and humid. It's more hot and humid in New Bern and surrounding areas, and it's frickin' flat!! WOW that was a big big challenge.
This year I know what to expect, at least, and thanks to everyone's awesome help last year, I'm able to secure a hotel room this year! :)
I set my goal this year to be a bit higher than last year's, but unfortunately the economy took a crap real bad and that put a hurtin' on things. I'll leave it up there so at least it shows that I tried :) haha! The donation pot is open at http://tinyurl.com/qgwyzr if you wanna toss in some loose change.
I appreciate anything anyone is able to do and I hope none of you or your loved ones has to go through this debilitating illness.
Thank you!
