National Multiple Sclerosis Society bike ride 2009

Hey folks, me again!

Yep, I'm late to the call, but thought I'd make a hollerin' anyway.

I'm once again doing the National Multiple Sclerosis Society bike ride fund raising event this year. For those that want a quick history lesson, or don't know: Several years ago I was having problems walking, blurry vision, difficulty climbing stairs and maintaining balance. After several months of these problems escalating, I went to see a neurologist. When the MRI scans came back, I was confirmed with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. For about six years now, I"ve been on drug therapy, a better diet, and a basic exercise regiment. My MS has relapsed only once in that time and my prognosis so far is good.

packing

Well I put up the tent Heather got, let it stay up overnight two nights ago when it rained and... yeah the tent didn't do well in the "water-resistant/repellent" department.

So, I'm going tonight to get a new spiffy one. Crap.

Then I gotta pack my bike and bunch of other gear. I'll probably go to Heather's apartment first to help her with stuff before I go home.

Fun fun. The pre-trip stress is starting to hit me a little now. But then again I do need to eat me a morning snack now, too.

(Update!) National Multiple Sclerosis Society benefit bike ride

Hi again folks! I am making the call for another round of donations for the big National MS Society bike ride event next month! I'm very close to reaching my goal and I am only $2500 short as of now. I know it's within reach! If you or someone else you know can help put me over the edge (haha, like I *need* that, right?), then we can all sleep well at night :) Or something like that. Anyway, if you can donate even the smallest amount, it would be greatly appreciated! No donation is too small.

Hey Dunizens!

Well, that was fast! Thanks y'all! And if you haven't donated, you got plenty of time. And I'm serious about the blink tag - don't try me.

So as to help Duane kick ass, and collect cash, I'll match any of y'alls donations up to a total of $250. Just let me know you did, and I'll submit mine when there is a total of 250 [done!], or it's a week away from the ride, whichever is first.

So go and click! Don't make me use the blink tag, 'cause I'll make it look like 1995 all up in here.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society benefit bike ride

Hey everyone!

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a non-profit organization which funds research and provides assistance to those with Multiple Sclerosis, a neurological illness which destroys the nervous system in the brain and spinal cord.

Five years ago I, too, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after having a series of escalating symptoms for nearly a year before that. (well if you didn't know this beforehand, you do now! :) surprise!)
