Cooling

Cooling

Damn it! Hurry up and cool!

Ready to rest.

Ready to rest.

Cornmeal and the finished loaf ready to rest for 40 minutes. There's another one of those mats. You should get some if you don't already have something like it.

After 3 hours.

After 3 hours.

Very lively.

The initial mixing.

The initial mixing.

Wet and gloppy. Luckily, I knew that it would take care of itself. Plus the recipe warns about mixing too heavily.

Foodie book "Chefs of the Triangle"

http://www.newsobserver.com/105/story/1680343.html

Ann Prospero (almost sounds like a pen-name..heh) was a writer and editor for a living, but food was her passion.

Prospero started asking chefs [around the Triangle] for interviews. She would tell them: "I'm Ann Prospero. I have a blog ( http://prosperoskitchen.typepad.com ). This is going to be a book." She said every chef graciously agreed to an interview and shared recipes.

Trali's

It's that time again, however, I'll need to preemptively bow out yet again to ensure I'm packed and read to move on Saturday (Amber gave me the "you do realize we still have a lot to pack" look when I mentioned going out tonight).

For the rest of you's - discuss!

With genuine Woo-Den handles!

In making a quick elevensies, or perhaps second breakfast (heaven forfend it should be both -- I think I'll work on Central time this morning), I've discovered the most wonderful thing...

My big ol' nonstick Wok, good enough as a spare for making Chinese if you don't need to put the spurs to it for anything, makes the most spectactular omelete pan.

Wine for the confused

Hey. Thought I would let you know that Hulu is featuring "Wine for the Confused" narrated by John Cleese. It's relatively short and is a good introduction to wine (plus it has John Cleese in it). It doesn't have much depth, but it's a good starting point for anyone who is interested in getting started in drinking wine. John Cleese makes some remarks at the beginning that are particularly poignant (to me) and finishes with some good remarks about buying and how the wine business works (again, not too much depth, but reasonable for the time constraints).
