I saw Steve Earle last night, so you bitches can suck it.
Submitted by john on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 10:18So Alaa bought me two tickets to go see Steve Earle and Allison Moorer in Ithaca last night. She couldn't go, so I took my friend Travis. We went to this amazing tapas place in Ithaca before the show and got good and lubricated on Ithaca Pale Ale. I had a salad, a cheese plate with manchego and a locally made gruyere clone, the best salt-cod fritters I've ever had, some smoked pork tenderloin with a cilantro aioli, and a homemade chorizo sausage. It was fantastic, and luckily I laid down a good base since it turned out that Ithaca Brewing Company was selling their wares in the theater, too.
James McMurtry
Submitted by dfriesen on Sun, 04/27/2008 - 21:29We attended a concert by James McMurtry (JM) last night. The venue was an ancient movie theater-—the kind that I used to attend when I was a child and they weren’t new then!-—that had been retrofit to a dinner movie theater that had been more recently retrofit to a dinner concert theater. Still have the towering neon marquee out front. Not quite downtown but in a funky older neighborhood with a fair number of restaurants and condom stores around. I now know where the Trader Vics is. It was a beautiful, pleasant evening.
The Grey Area
Submitted by jason@dunfoamin.org on Fri, 03/28/2008 - 12:12Went to see my friends play last night. They're a bit crunchy and they are just getting started out, but what the hell, it was fun. Support local music. Right?
Anyway if you are in the Triangle area, be sure to check them out. Here is a link to their page:
By the way, if you like barbecue, you really should come visit the Pit (now I have made my plug - maybe they'll give me some time off...)
